Our Mission
Abstinence from drugs and alcohol is only one part of
recovery. We recognize the need for a holistic approach,
which promotes both physical and mental wellness.
Recovery is not a "one size fits all" concept. Therefore, each
plan is customized to the specific needs of the individual.
We utilize a collaborative process which allows each
individual to have a voice in their client-centered recovery
goals and plan. Traveling your path of recovery with you,
we will
• Help motivate engagement in the treatment process
• Assist in developing and enhancing life skills
• Facilitate independence through positive change
• Help navigate obstacles in the recovery process
• Provide connections with community resources
What are Recovery Support Services
(RSS)?
Lehigh Valley Drug and Alcohol Intake Unit
offers Recovery Support Services to individuals
seeking recovery from addiction. These
services are most successful in conjunction
with Drug & Alcohol treatment. Certified
Recovery Specialists (CRS) and Case Managers
(CM) help guide individuals in accessing
treatment, getting their basic needs met, and
establishing recovery supports in the
community. The collaborative journey
between the individual and their CRS/CM will
address areas of need, as well as enhance the
individual's efforts to get and stay clean.
What is a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS)?
A CRS is a person in long-term recovery who
draws on personal experience while working with
individuals in early recovery in the office, in
treatment, and in the community. A CRS provides
• Support and guidance
• Advocacy
• Introduction to recovery supports (e.g.,
12-step meetings, SMART Recovery and
Refuge Recovery groups, yoga, art classes)
What does a Case Manager (CM) do?
• Conducts assessment & referral to treatment
• Identifies needs, establishes goals, monitors
progress
• Facilitates access to healthcare and other key
agencies
• Links to community resources for housing,
food, clothing, employment, etc.
Why should I work with a Certified Recovery
Specialist or Case Manager?
Each CRS and CM will provide peer-based
support for individuals on their journey in
recovery. Individuals in the recovery
process can benefit from the lived
experience and/or guidance of our staff.
How much does the service cost?
Currently, this service is offered at no cost to
those who reside in Northampton County.
Lehigh County residents who have Medical
Assistance-Magellan are also eligible to work
with a CRS.
